Dr. Susie Homire graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Veterinary Medicine. 
She spent many years in small animal practice, where she practiced medicine, surgery and dentistry, as well as canine and feline behavior modification. Today she focuses exclusively on canine behavior, and rehabilitating dogs with behavior issues. Susie draws on her 20 years of experience and training to teach dog psychology to dog owners, including leadership, communication, energy and body language, and rehabilitates dogs with issues such as aggression, fearfulness, separation anxiety, relentless barking, eliminating in the house, and many others.

Hi. I’m Dr. Susie Homire; I’m a veterinarian, certified canine behaviorist, and Maryland’s Dog Whisperer. A dog whisperer is someone who teaches people to be the “leader of the pack” and to communicate with dogs using energy and body language. I have worked with dogs most of my life, from obedience training and showing, to veterinary practice and canine behavior consultation, to dog rescue and dog whispering.

One of my greatest joys is rescuing and rehabilitating dogs for and serving on the Board of Merlin’s KIDS. Merlin’s KIDS, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides service dogs to children with autism and other special needs, FREE of charge. We want to ensure that no child in need of a service dog is refused, regardless of their financial circumstances. Our goal is to enable children with autism and other special needs to become caring, generous, and productive members of society with the help of our service, companion, or therapy dogs.
I work primarily in Maryland, Virginia, and DC, and occasionally travel to other states to help people with their dogs. I advise a number of local dog rescue organizations as well as a no-kill dog sanctuary in Dakini Valley, Arizona, Tara’s Babies Animal Welfare.
